I’d like to think my foundation was stable
But experience exploited my weakness
During moments I thought I was strong
I’d come crashing down to the ground
Me the impacts debilitated
But I learned in recuperation
Long and painful the recovery was
Setbacks would come, but I overcame
There were days I wanted to quit
When the war outlasted my will
When unable to move, I had to wait
Frustrated, but trying to stay upbeat
I got up again, standing my ground
Determined to conquer this time around
No obstacle could keep me at bay
Nothing could keep me down, I rose too fast
What I didn’t know I learned by mistake
Where I was weak, I then became strong
I ventured out again where I had been
Climbing the mountains and running the slopes
I learn by doing, by making mistakes
By going much faster than I can handle
And biting off much more than I can chew
Progress is made by trial and error
My knees my anchor and foundation are
As fast as I can fall, they pick me up
Worn and bruised, but stable they are
Tried and tested in the field of battle
They are my key, my secret to success
Lifting me up when I’d rather stay down
Anyone can fall many times over
But no one can rise as fast as I can
