It’s alright to lie and cheat
If you’re the only one who knows
You can get away with murder
If you just keep it to yourself
Almost anything you can hide
You can even hide it from yourself
If you can lie and justify
Your conscience will erode away
No one knows what you are doing
You can always deceive the masses
If you can complain and condemn
You can glorify yourself
In the end, only one is aware
Only one soul will know the truth
Only one soul you have to live with
Only one soul can condemn you
Only one can testify
To your culpability
No one else cares, and no one else knows
If with yourself you can live
Don’t mind the feeling of emptiness
Or of losing your integrity
Try to forget that grinding feeling
Because these are the gifts of deception
Since you know you can’t trust liars
Since only one knows your true intent
Only one soul wouldn’t trust you
Only one soul you’d have to avoid
From only one would you run away
Not by choice, but of circumstance
Because you couldn’t live with that person
But how do you run away from yourself?
